Netanyahu says suspect “underwent Islamist radical indoctrination”
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday alleged that the co-pilot, who stabbed the pilot on the flydubai flight, was “suicidal” and “underwent Islamist radical indoctrination”. In an interview with Fox News, he said, “We know that he underwent Islamist radical indoctrination,” adding, “The attacker, the co-pilot who attacked the pilot, is now being interrogated. Earlier, Netanyahu had addressed the incident, saying it was “too early” to determine whether Iran was involved in the incident. Netanyahu also said there were “signs” from Iran-backed groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah of plans to carry out attacks in Israel, but stressed that it was not yet known whether the flydubai incident was linked to those plans.
Speaking to Fox News on Wednesday, he said the attacking pilot was being investigated in Saudi Arabia and could later be taken to the UAE, with Israel potentially participating in the probe.
