Medical Examination Conducted at Adiala Jail
A medical examination was carried out at Adiala Jail, with the team led by a doctor from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Medical staff from the Adiala Jail hospital also participated in the examination, according to the report.
The Supreme Court had ordered on August 18 that Khan be shifted to a private medical facility for treatment. Khan has faced multiple legal cases since his removal as prime minister through a no-confidence vote in April 2022, with his health and conditions of detention remaining a recurring issue in Pakistan’s political discourse. Earlier reporting noted: The latest appeal follows a similar initiative earlier this year, when 21 international cricket captains, including Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Dilip Vengsarkar, wrote to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif seeking humane treatment for Imran Khan.
His supporters have alleged that his health has deteriorated due to inadequate medical care, a claim that prison authorities have repeatedly rejected.
Earlier reporting noted: The report said a PIMS physician led the medical team, with medical personnel from the Adiala Jail hospital also assisting during the examination. However, he was taken to PIMS, where he underwent medical tests before being returned to jail, news agency ANI cited. His Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has sought his transfer to Islamabad’s Shifa International Hospital for a detailed medical examination and treatment, while raising concerns over his health.
