An electric car in Mainpuri unexpectedly started moving during a cleaning session, alarming bystanders nearby (Visuals credit: X)
The incident took place on Friday, October 16, when the car’s owner, Saurabh Rathore, was sitting inside his office. “I bought the Tata Tiago EV four months ago, and it has run around 4,500km. The car travelled around 16 metres during the episode,” Rathore told TOI.
His nephew was cleaning the vehicle with two other children when it suddenly started moving forward, throwing his nephew off balance and injuring him when he struck a window, according to Rathore. He added that he contacted Tata Motors after the incident and was told that the vehicle had been switched on. Mainpuri police said the concerned police team had been directed to investigate the incident and take necessary action.
CCTV footage of the incident on Jail Road has gone viral on social media. The handbrake was engaged when the incident happened.
After the vehicle came down from the bridge, it also hit and damaged another car belonging to the family.
