The DEO has asked a report to be submitted in seven days
Ghanshyamsinh Dabhi, who teaches Hindi, Sanskrit and English, allegedly slapped the student six times, claiming that he was misbehaving in class, according to the complaint. Ahmedabad: A teacher at Sheth C N Vidyalaya in Ambawadi has been suspended pending an inquiry into allegations that he repeatedly slapped a Class IX student during class. The teacher is also accused of sending the student out of the classroom. The student’s parents submitted the CCTV footage to the district education officer (DEO) along with a complaint seeking action against the teacher. The student’s father also filed a complaint with the school principal. Following the complaint, the Ahmedabad city DEO’s office initiated an inquiry and sought details from the school about the incident and the action taken so far. The school management constituted an internal inquiry committee to investigate the alleged assault. The committee is scrutinising CCTV footage and other evidence to establish the sequence of events. They also served a notice to Dabhi, who teaches Hindi, Sanskrit and English at the school, asking him to explain his conduct in connection with the incident.
The school management has now suspended the teacher until the investigation is completed.
