Patrick Mahomes rarely hides his competitive side, but the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s frustration during the 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks drew attention for a reason.

“We’re talking about trades, advice for Garrett Wilson,” Wilson said. The reigning standard of consistency in Kansas City’s offense suddenly looked short of answers, with dropped passes and limited production making matters worse. Russell Wilson noticed the warning signs and believes the Chiefs may need another proven playmaker to help their quarterback. The former Seahawks star has a clear candidate in mind: New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson, whose arrival could give Kansas City’s struggling passing game a new dimension. “Listen to me. I mentioned it last week; I’m gonna say it again: If I’m Garrett Wilson, where do I wanna go? I’m going to the Kansas City Chiefs.”

Mahomes finished with 165 passing yards, no touchdowns and one interception.

Kansas City has reportedly explored receiver options ahead of the trade deadline, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter. Wilson’s comments followed a difficult night for Kansas City’s offense against Seattle. The Chiefs struggled to sustain drives, while dropped passes added to the quarterback’s growing frustration. It was a rare sight for a team that has built much of its success around Mahomes’ ability to keep plays alive and find solutions under pressure. A receiver such as Garrett Wilson could help by creating separation, winning contested catches and giving Mahomes another option when his first read is covered. Still, one new player would not fix every issue. The Chiefs also need cleaner execution, better protection and fewer wasted opportunities. That does not confirm interest in Garrett Wilson, but Russell Wilson’s suggestion fits the wider question facing the franchise: should it make a major move to support Mahomes, or trust its current group to improve?
