Pune: Citizens seeking land-use and planning documents from PMRDA will no longer have to wait

The portal will provide zone certificates, part plans, and site elevation certificates within seconds

“Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has digitised Pune regional plan approved in 1997 and integrated it with geographic information system (GIS). The portal contains more than 25 geographic and administrative data layers covering 674 villages. PMRDA said the initiative was introduced under Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act and govt process re-engineering (GPR) initiative.

Citizens will also receive a part plan along with their zone certificate,” an official said. The online system is expected to save applicants travel costs and time spent following up with officials, officials said. PMRDA metropolitan commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari said the portal would make planning and development processes more transparent and citizen-friendly. “Citizens will be able to access preliminary official information about roads, flood lines, Metro routes, and regional planning around their plots online,” he said.

Digital elevation models, topographic maps, and other geographic data have been incorporated to automate site elevation certificate process, reducing manual intervention. These layers map Metro routes, transit-oriented development (TOD) zones, proposed Purandar airport’s affected area, National Defence Academy (NDA) buffer zone, HEMRL boundaries, wildlife sanctuary boundaries, railway lines, and flood lines, including red and blue lines. Certificates will feature QR codes and barcodes for digital verification. The portal will also provide user guidance, frequently asked questions, and a feedback facility. The authority added that the GIS portal could serve as a model for other regional development and special planning authorities across the state.

This replaces traditional manual processes that previously took seven days for a zone certificate, three days for a part plan, and up to 10 days for a site elevation certificate.
