The projects include the 51-km Lucknow-Agra Expressway to Purvanchal Expressway link, the 91-km Ganga Expressway to Bundelkhand Expressway link via Farrukhabad, the 106-km Bundelkhand Expressway to Jhansi link, the 15-km Bundelkhand Expressway to Chitrakoot Dham link, and the 74.5-km Ganga Expressway to Yamuna Expressway link via the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar. Together, the five projects are estimated to cost Rs 17,104 crore and are targeted for completion within three years.
The state govt has also approved the award of work to the selected agencies,” a senior UPEIDA official said. Officials said UPEIDA has informed the chief minister’s office about the developments, and groundwork ceremonies for the projects could be held in the coming weeks. Lucknow: Civil works are set to begin soon on five link expressways planned as extensions of Uttar Pradesh ’s access-controlled expressway network, with the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) finalising contractors for all eight construction packages. To speed up execution, the Farrukhabad, Jhansi and Jewar link expressways have been split into two packages each, while the Lucknow-Agra to Purvanchal link and the Chitrakoot Dham link will be executed as single packages. “We have finalised the construction agencies for all eight packages. The selection was done through competitive bidding after evaluating both the technical capability and financial strength of the participating companies. The link routes are aimed at creating seamless connectivity between existing expressways and key destinations, reducing dependence on national highways, state highways and local roads once motorists exit current corridors.

Officials said the projects are expected to improve travel within Uttar Pradesh and for through-traffic between National Capital Region, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. Long-distance buses travelling from Delhi towards Patna, for example, would be able to remain on expressway corridors for most of the journey through the state. Freight movement to the Bundelkhand region is also expected to benefit from uninterrupted high-speed connectivity. The Farrukhabad link will add an additional interchange between Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Ganga Expressway. Apart from the proposed Unnao interchange, another connection is planned at Kudrail in Etawah. Kudrail is seen as a strategic junction as it already hosts an interchange between Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Bundelkhand Expressway. The Jewar link is expected to strengthen access to Noida International Airport and provide a key connector between Ganga and Yamuna expressways. The five projects are expected to further integrate Purvanchal, Agra-Lucknow, Ganga, Bundelkhand and Yamuna expressways into a more continuous high-speed network. Download the TOI App.
