Aaryavir Sehwag, son of former India opener Virender Sehwag
India Under-19 began their Under-19 Asia Cup campaign with a 10-wicket win over Nepal Under-19 on Friday, after fast bowler Ishan Sood’s three-wicket spell with the new-ball set up a straightforward chase for the openers in Al Amerat, Oman. Aaryavir Sehwag and Lakshya Raichandani remained unbeaten as India chased down the target of 129 in just 19.1 overs, with 30.5 overs to spare. Sehwag scored 70 off 52 balls, hitting seven fours and four sixes, while Raichandani made 53 off 63 balls, including seven boundaries. He dismissed opener Prashiddha Jaishi (1 off 7), No. 3 batter Suryanshu Koirala (5 off 6) and No. 4 Nischal Kshetri (0 off 12) to leave Nepal struggling at 27/3 in the ninth over. India Under-19 will next face Pakistan Under-19 in their second match of the tournament on Sunday.
Earlier, India captain Lakshya Raichandani opted to field after winning the toss, and Sood made an early impact with the new ball.
