Dipke’s findings have raised significant concerns about the state of education in these institutions, prompting a response from the state leadership.

Ministers Disagree on School Repair Funding at Cabinet Meeting

During a cabinet meeting on Monday, several ministers raised concerns about insufficient funding for school repairs. School Education Minister Dada Bhuse countered these claims, stating that only a small number of schools are in poor condition, suggesting that the focus on these schools is disproportionate.

Increased Funding for School Repairs in Mumbai

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed a significant increase in funding for school repairs, raising the allocation from 5% to 15% of the District Planning Committee (DPC) funds. This decision was made during a recent review meeting with ministers from his party.

In related developments, Ashish Shelar, the guardian minister for Mumbai suburban areas, has advocated for the urgent recruitment of education inspectors. These inspectors are tasked with overseeing the physical facilities of government secondary schools, as well as municipal, aided, and unaided primary schools within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) jurisdiction.
