Lucknow hosted a notable theatre event on Wednesday, featuring the acclaimed play ‘Park’ by Manav Kaul. The performance took place at the International Buddhist Research Institute, drawing attention for its artistic merit and engaging narrative.
Organised by Shraddha Manav Seva Kalyan Samiti in collaboration with the UP culture department, the production emerged from a 60-day workshop conducted under the guidance of dramatist Prabhat Kumar Bose, bringing a disciplined rehearsal process to the final performance. “The park is not merely a place; it becomes a mirror in which every person can see a part of their own inner world,” Achala said. Written by Kaul and directed by Achala Bose, ‘Park’ turns an ordinary public space into a canvas for extraordinary questions about human existence. The story centres on a park that draws people from different walks of life—some arriving in search of companionship, others trying to outrun loneliness, anxiety or a persistent inner unrest. What begins as casual talk on benches and pathways gradually deepens, exposing fears, fractured relationships, unfulfilled aspirations, insecurity and an ache of emotional emptiness. As the characters’ layers unfold, the park becomes more than a setting, hinting at the private worlds each person carries.
