As per reports, in a legal move, Jeanie Buss’ lawyer Adam Streisand wrote to her siblings that, “co-trustees are bound to vote … to ensure that the minimum 15% ownership requirement is maintained in order to ensure that Jeanie Buss may remain Controlling Owner.
A few hours ago, the Buss family issued a statement that read as, “We have decided as a family to sell the remaining Buss Family Trust shares to the Bob Iger group as part of the ongoing transaction…” The statement added, “We love the Lakers, Laker fans and will continue to support Los Angeles; but it is time to use this opportunity to move on and exit gracefully while we still can. The Los Angeles Lakers have found themselves in the middle of a clash in family legacy as Jeanie Buss has strongly opposed her family’s agreement of selling their remaining stake in the franchise to Bob Iger and Josh Kushner’s group. This has reportedly created a tussle in the family and it has sparked a heated debate among fans. As per ESPN, while the rest of the siblings voted for the sale, Jeanie has voted against it. Any attempt by the co-trustees … to aid or abet the co-trustees as such, would constitute a breach of trust, breach of fiduciary duty and be in contempt of court. ” While the Buss family has remained silent about, it has sparked a heated debate among fans. A fan took to X and wrote, “Only one trying to keep the legacy alive. Older siblings just want to cash out. Always happens this way when the others don’t work or aren’t the CEO.”
