Nothing OS 5.0 beta hits Phone (3) first on 26 August

Nothing has Nothing OS 5.0, an Android 17 build carrying more than 80 changes across design, personalisation, performance and its Essential AI tools. The Open Beta starts on Wednesday, 26 August at 3:30 PM IST, and Phone (3) is the only device in the queue on day one. Stable builds begin with Phone (3) in mid-October.

The redesigned home screen ships as an extra theme rather than a replacement, so the older Nothing OS look stays. Widgets and the search bar use transparent detailing for depth, app icons pick up subtle tints, and 1×1 Quick Settings widgets take the wallpaper’s primary colour and change with it. The system also moves to the Geist typeface, with reworked icons and spacing in Settings, Camera and Gallery. The new clock faces are Gooey, which goes bold and fluid, and Micrographics, which stacks date, time, weather and upcoming meetings in a hardware-inspired layout. Collector builds a visual shelf of objects captured through Camera or Gallery. Away Time logs how long you have stayed off the phone and your longest streak. Phone (4a) Pro gets the beta in early September, the (4a), (3a) and (3a) Pro in late September, and the (2a) and (2a) Plus in mid-October.
