JU probe panel to invite submissions, next meet on Sept 15

Kolkata: A public notice will be issued by the judiciary inquiry commission inviting written submissions, statements, and visual evidence from anyone with the knowledge of the Aug 19 and 20 incidents at Jadavpur University. A two-member panel was formed with Calcutta High Court ex-judge Pranab Chattopadhyay as the chairman and professor Soumendu Chatterjee, director, IQAC, Presidency University as the other external member. JU official Sumanta Jana is the presenting officer and Pranab Kumar Halder of the law cell is the secretary. Pro-VC Amitava Datta also attended the first meeting. “The first meeting was held to fix the procedure. The secretary will issue a public notice inviting written submissions along with any video footage or photographs from anyone with the knowledge of the incidents. After that, we will review them and summon them. It will depend on the submissions and complaints. I can assure that there will be no delay on our part.”
