The New York Post reported that SVLG CEO Ahmad Thomas told staff this week that York would no longer continue as acting chairman. Importantly, York has not lost his position as the 49ers’ principal owner.

The report also said board member Tarkan Maner, president of AI company Nutanix, will take over the role next month. The Silicon Valley decision concerns his outside leadership role, not his control of the NFL franchise.

49ers Coach Addresses York’s Legal Situation Amid Ongoing NFL Review

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed in a press conference on August 25 that the team’s operations remain unaffected by the legal issues surrounding owner Jed York. Shanahan emphasized that York’s situation is personal and does not impact the players or coaching staff’s focus on the upcoming season.

“I don’t need much of a message to the guys. I think that’s kind of irrelevant to our guys,” Shanahan stated when discussing the team’s preparations. He also expressed respect for York and his family, indicating that the coaching staff would continue to provide regular updates to York.

In a separate development, the NFL has announced that it is reviewing York’s case under its personal conduct policy, which could lead to potential league discipline despite the conclusion of the Ohio court proceedings.
