Kanpur: Police on Thursday arrested two men from Fatehpur in connection with the murder of a 37-year-old salesman, Biru Singh Bhadauriya, in Kanpur’s Hanumant Vihar police station area. Two other accused, identified as Pintu and Deepak , are absconding.
Police said the accused trapped both of Biru’s hands in the car windows and continued driving through narrow lanes with him pinned to the vehicle before allegedly running him over, killing him. The accused fled to Fatehpur with the car after the incident, according to police. They were later traced and arrested with the help of surveillance inputs and local informers. The family alleged that police had initially treated Biru’s death as a hit-and-run case rather than a murder. Police are conducting raids to arrest Pintu and Deepak and are investigating whether any other persons were involved or whether a larger conspiracy was behind the killing.
During questioning, the arrested accused, car driver Pawan and his associate Dilip , told police that they had an argument with Biru on Tuesday night, following which they allegedly hit him with their car. Biru’s family had placed his body on the Naubasta-Sagar Highway near Hanumant Vihar police station on Thursday morning, blocking traffic and demanding registration of a murder case, arrests of the accused and adequate compensation.
