Ahmedabad : Central Board of Secondary Education ( CBSE ) has postponed the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), which was scheduled for Sep 6, and reopened the online application portal following a recent Supreme Court directive.
Supreme Court Mandates Teacher Eligibility Test for In-Service Teachers
The Supreme Court has mandated that all in-service primary school teachers in the country must pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) by August 31, 2028, to remain in their positions or qualify for promotions, subject to certain conditions. This ruling aims to ensure that eligible teachers have a fair chance to meet the TET requirements.
Teachers who previously registered and paid the application fee during the earlier registration period do not need to reapply, as their applications will remain valid.
The application fees are set at Rs 1,000 for general category candidates wishing to take one paper, and Rs 1,200 for both papers. For candidates from reserved categories, the fees are Rs 500 for one paper and Rs 600 for both. To pass the TET, general category candidates must achieve a minimum score of 90 out of 150, while reserved category candidates need at least 82 marks.
Examination Schedule Update
Eligible candidates can submit their applications online until September 1. Following the conclusion of the registration period, the board will announce a new examination date. Sources indicate that due to an anticipated increase in applications, the examination may be held over two days this time.
