University officials said the team was deployed at the request of the ministry of external affairs and the Union home ministry. Prof S O Junare, director of the NFSU Gandhinagar campus, said the team would assist in disaster victim identification (DVI) by profiling bodies recovered during rescue operations through DNA sampling. “The Centre of Excellence in DNA Forensics has adequate kits and tools required for the analysis,” Junare said.
