Pune: Four people, including an elderly couple and a father-daughter duo, were killed in separate road accidents in Pimpri Chinchwad and its adjoining areas on Friday. Separate cases were registered with the North Mahalunge MIDC and Dehu Road police on Saturday.

Rajendra Bhor (46) and his daughter Mayuri (14), both residents of Avasari Khurd in Ambegaon taluka, died on the spot, while Bhor’s wife, Vaishali (38), sustained severe injuries. In the second accident, 74-year-old Siddheshwar Phutane and his 70-year-old wife, both residents of Pimpri Chinchwad, were killed after their scooter was hit by a truck. “They sustained head injuries in the accident and were being treated at a private hospital in Pimpri.

Senior police inspector of North Mahalunge MIDC police station Digambar Suryavanshi told TOI that the first accident occurred around 4pm on Friday at Shinde village along the Pune-Nashik highway. Bhor’s brother-in-law approached the police on Saturday and lodged a complaint. The accident occurred on Nigdi-Talawade Road on Friday morning when the couple was heading to Phutane’s sister’s house in Dehu Road for Raksha Bandhan. Phutane succumbed to his injuries on Friday afternoon, while his wife died in the evening,” an officer from the Dehu Road police said. The police registered a case of causing death by negligence against the truck driver on Saturday.

“We have registered a case of causing death by negligence against the truck driver,” Suryavanshi said.
