Zomato bans these dishes on its platform with immediate effect
The shut down of customer support operations in Hyderabad has resulted in around 250 employees losing their jobs, according to a report by Economic Times.
In a press release, the food ordering and delivery platform said that dishes that restaurant partners have declared as containing analogue dairy have been delisted from the platform. Zomato said that it has a zero-tolerance policy on the sale of analogue dishes by restaurants listed on its platform, adding that it reserves the “right to remove any listing found in violation”. “The move is a consumer-first step, driven by Zomato’s own commitment to transparency and food quality,” the company added. As stated in the press release, Zomato has asked its restaurant partners to take actions such as: “This policy builds on Zomato’s broader focus on healthier food choices and greater transparency for customers, consistent with applicable regulatory requirements,” the release stated.

The report further states that this decision of the company is part of a restructuring exercise following changes in Zomato’s customer support model over the past six months, with a larger share of work is now being outsourced to external partners.
