Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) now plans to operationalise pay-and-park facilities at 28 locations by March 2027, nearly eight years after the project was first proposed under the Smart City Mission. Officials said launching the project amid ongoing road widening and infrastructure works for the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela could hamper both traffic management and construction activity. Of the 28 proposed sites, 22 are on-street parking facilities and six are off-street lots, all located in the civic body’s west division. Two-wheelers will be charged Rs 10 for up to two hours and Rs 20 for two to six hours, while three-wheelers and four-wheelers will pay Rs 20 and Rs 40, respectively. Vehicles parked illegally within 150-200 metres of designated parking facilities will face fines ranging from Rs 600 to Rs 2,000 and may be towed away.
Once these projects are completed, all designated pay-and-park facilities will be made operational ahead of the Kumbh Mela,” a senior NMC official said. NMC has also approved parking charges and a penalty framework for illegal parking.
Contractor Selection for Facility Operations Announced
Officials have confirmed that work orders will soon be issued to the chosen contractor responsible for operating the facilities. This arrangement will follow a revenue-sharing model, which is designed to optimize financial returns for all parties involved.

Dedicated parking facilities are the need of the hour,” said resident Swapnil Shelke. This becomes even more inconvenient when travelling with family members or senior citizens. The project was originally conceived under the Smart City Mission but remained stalled after disputes over contract conditions. Following the closure of the Smart City initiative, the responsibility was transferred to NMC, which revived the proposal and completed the tender process.
