Ahmedabad: Following the retirement of IPS officer Raju Bhargav on Monday, Piyush Patel has been appointed as the new Director General of Police for Armed Units in Gandhinagar. Patel, a senior police officer, will assume additional responsibilities in this role to ensure the continued effectiveness of the armed units in the region.

Patel, a 1998-batch IPS officer of ADGP rank, will hold the additional charge alongside his existing responsibility as director of state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Bhargav, a 1995-batch IPS officer, retired on Aug 31 on attaining superannuation. He was serving as DGP, armed units, Gandhinagar, at the time of his retirement.
The order was issued by the home department on Monday.
