DHARMAPURI: A Tamil Nadu State Trasport Corporation bus driver died and seven people suffered serious injuries when the vehicle he was driving rammed a tanker truck near Kolasanahalli in Dharmapuri district in the early hours of Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as V Saravanan, 46, of Salem. The injured have been identified as M Shankar, 48, Divya,36, of Mallasamuthiram in Namakkal district, Deepani,25, of Sankari in Salem district, Divya, 23, of Natrampalli in Tirupattur district, Karthi, 33, of Pudukottai district, Madan Christopher,24, of Mysuru in Karnataka and Ashokkumar, 41, of Madurai district. The bus, carrying 42 passengers from Bengaluru to Salem, rammed the rear part of tanker that was being used for watering plants on the median of the national highway.

“The front portion of the bus was manged in the impact, killing Saravanan on the spot,” said an officer at the Mahendramangalam police station. The Mahendramangalam police registered a case and began investigations. Download the TOI App.
The injured were taken to Palacode Government Hospital. Saravanan’s body was sent to Dharmapuri Government Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem.
