Udupi: Udupi district police have made elaborate security and traffic arrangements for the Krishna Janmashtami and Vitla Pindi celebrations.

The security team will comprise one SP, one additional SP, two deputy SPs, six inspectors, 25 sub-inspectors, 35 assistant sub-inspectors, 186 head constables, police constables and women police personnel, and 50 home guards. To strengthen surveillance, CCTV cameras have been installed at 45 additional locations across the city. As many as 12 public-address systems will be used during the festival.

Police said that the arrangements have been put in place to ensure public safety, maintain law and order and regulate traffic during the celebrations. For additional security, police have deployed one KSRP platoon, nine District Armed Reserve (DAR) platoons, three fire and emergency response teams, two ambulances and three drone teams. Akka Pade and volunteers will be deployed to manage crowds and ensure the safety of women and children. Fingerprint scanners will be deployed to identify and monitor individuals with a history of criminal activity. The entire festival area will be monitored using drone cameras. Police have appealed to the public to cooperate with the department, follow traffic rules and comply with instructions to ensure that the festival is conducted peacefully and safely.
