New Delhi: Delhi Police have stepped up security around the 10 hotels and 22 diversion points earmarked for visiting dignitaries and delegates ahead of BRICS Summit , scheduled to be held from Sept 11 to 13 at Bharat Mandapam.
Additional CP (traffic) Dinesh Gupta said the rehearsal covered 12 locations, including 10 hotels designated for visiting dignitaries and delegates and two other locations. The motorcades departed from these locations for Bharat Mandapam at 10:30 am and returned at 3:30 pm. As part of the exercise, 22 diversion points were established at strategic locations across the city to regulate traffic and ensure smooth movement of the motorcades while minimising inconvenience to commuters.

“The rehearsal was conducted smoothly, with citizens’ convenience given due priority throughout,” he said. The vehicles in the motorcade will be fitted with GPS devices, allowing police to monitor their movements in real time. Anti-sabotage teams, along with bomb detection and disposal squads, will conduct continuous security sweeps. Wednesday, Delhi Police, Delhi Traffic Police , ministry of external affairs (MEA) and other agencies involved in the summit’s security conducted the first joint motorcade rehearsal to fine-tune security and traffic arrangements. In a debriefing session at Bharat Mandapam, officials reviewed the motorcade movement and discussed measures to further synchronise security and traffic arrangements ahead of the summit.
