The arrests were made on Friday at Kanhaiya Pharma in Transport Nagar, Lucknow.
LUCKNOW: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) operational unit in Lucknow has arrested six active drug traffickers and recovered a large consignment of narcotic and psychotropic medicines, including codeine-based cough syrup, tramadol capsules, and alprazolam tablets, collectively valued at an estimated Rs 1 crore. A case has been registered at Sarojini Nagar police station in the Lucknow Commissionerate under Sections 8, 21, 22, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police said legal proceedings have been initiated against all six accused. During interrogation, the arrested suspects reportedly told investigators that they operated together to illegally procure and sell narcotic medicines for higher profits. The money earned from the transactions was then divided among the members of the group and used for their personal expenses and lifestyles, police said.
Kishan Vaswani, Sameer Ahmed, Shad Irshad, Umesh Kumar, Satendra Singh, and Vishal Chaurasia were arrested. They allegedly pooled money to purchase the medicines and subsequently delivered the consignments to different parties for monetary gain. The arrests were made on Friday at Kanhaiya Pharma in Transport Nagar, Lucknow.
Further investigation is underway to establish the complete supply chain and identify other individuals involved in the illegal trade.
