PCMC earned Rs729 crore in revenue till Feb 18 for financial year 2025-26
Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is likely to record low property tax recovery for financial year 2025-26. As of Feb 18, the total revenue stood at Rs729 crore, compared to Rs740 crore collected during the same period last year. Additionally, a recent survey conducted by the municipal corporation added nearly one lakh new properties to the tax department’s registry, bringing a total to 7.3 lakh properties.
To contest the recently held civic elections, candidates were required to obtain “no-dues certificates”. Sachin Pawar, the deputy municipal commissioner and head of the PCMC’s property tax department, said, “Progress on tax recovery is being reviewed on a daily basis through each ward office. One silver lining for the corporation was the response from political aspirants. Defaulters can avoid actions such as property attachment and disconnection of water supply. if they clear their dues immediately. Citizens should voluntarily pay their taxes and cooperate with the municipal corporation. This led to a proactive surge in payments from individuals and firms that historically held the highest arrears.
