At a public gathering on Sept 2, Raut accused the village administration of failing to provide basic amenities and questioned the utilisation of development funds under the 15th Finance Commission and PESA schemes. Village development officer V D Thail also rejected the allegations, clarifying that the Sept 2 gathering was not an official gram sabha.
He added that the scheduled gram sabha on Aug 27 had been adjourned due to a lack of quorum. “The issue is that the family had previously benefited from Gharkul Yojana housing scheme and her grandmother, former deputy sarpanch Phulabai Sitaram Raut, had encroached upon gaothan land, an issue that has already been reported to the panchayat samiti for further administrative action.
