Meerut: Police in Bareilly and the anti-narcotics task force have intercepted a drug trafficking link along Bareilly-Rampur highway and arrested an alleged interstate peddler, Jabbar Khan, 32. About 1.3 kg of high-grade heroin was seized, police said, adding that the contraband is valued at Rs 2.6 crore in the international market. Verma added that the peddler had completed 25 to 30 delivery trips to Dehradun this year alone to maintain client networks.

The accused and his brother manufactured heroin in Bareilly before smuggling consignments to target college students and hostels across Dehradun,” said SP (south) Anshika Verma. “To evade law enforcement detection, the traffickers relied exclusively on encrypted WhatsApp calls and erased call logs immediately following transactions,” Verma further said. “Preliminary probe indicated an illicit supply route extending from Bareilly to Uttarakhand.
