Patrick Mahomes is preparing to return from an ACL tear for the 2026 NFL season. As of 2026, Mahomes holds minority ownership stakes in the Kansas City Royals, Sporting Kansas City, the Kansas City Current, and the Alpine F1 team, while pulling in roughly $20 to $28 million annually from endorsements with brands like State Farm, Adidas, and Oakley. In July 2020, Mahomes signed a 10-year contract extension with the Chiefs worth up to $503 million, a number that made every headline. He became a minority owner of the Kansas City Royals in 2020, joined Sporting KC’s ownership group in 2021, and later became part of a star-studded investment group that purchased a stake in the Alpine F1 Team alongside Travis Kelce and Rory McIlroy. Back in 2020, she used her soccer background and entrepreneurial instincts to help bring the NWSL’s Kansas City Current franchise to life. Forbes reported in 2026 that the Kansas City Current is now the second most valuable team in the NWSL, valued at $325 million, up from $75 million just two years earlier. The franchise now leads the entire NWSL in annual revenue at $36 million.

Kansas City Current President Raven Jemison told KCTV5: “This league will have a generational impact on young athletes, families, and coaches across the city. But while the football world fixated on his knee, something far bigger was quietly compounding in the background. And Brittany? She was doing this before Patrick even joined in. Most people know the football side of Patrick Mahomes. Fewer understand the ownership portfolio that sits beneath it. What got less attention was what he did with it. Patrick joined the ownership group two years later. When he did, he became the first active NFL player to hold equity in an NWSL team. That investment has grown in a way few predicted. We are excited to see how the league grows and the success stories that come from it. What makes all of this worth paying attention to is not the dollar amounts. It is the direction. Patrick and Brittany Mahomes did not wait for the contracts to run out before thinking about what comes after. They built while the game was still being played, and they built it in one city, deliberately, with ownership stakes that will outlast any Super Bowl ring. That is an unusual kind of ambition, even by NFL standards.
