A 50-year-old man has been arrested in Nawabganj, Kanpur, for allegedly raping his 15-year-old stepdaughter. The incident reportedly occurred on September 1 at a friend’s house. Authorities are currently investigating the case further.

The mother told police that her first husband had died and she had six daughters from that marriage. The accused took the girl to his friend’s house and allegedly raped her after the friend stepped out for some work, according to the complaint. Bithoor SHO Ashok Kumar Saroj said the matter came to light after the accused allegedly boasted about his actions to his friends during a liquor party.
The girl underwent a medical examination after her mother lodged a complaint. Police registered an FIR under relevant sections, including the Pocso Act . She later married the accused. She subsequently lodged a formal complaint at Bithoor police station. Download the TOI App.
