On Thursday, the Anti-Corruption Unit of Jhansi apprehended a clerk from the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) office in Lalitpur. The clerk was allegedly caught in the act of accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 intended to expedite the clearing of arrears for an 82-year-old retired teacher. This incident highlights ongoing issues related to corruption within educational administrative offices.
However, the accused clerk, Rajesh Namdev, allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 from him. On Thursday, the complainant went with Rs 5,000 treated with chemical powder and handed the money to the accused. The complainant, Madanmohan Namdev, had visited the BSA office several times to get his pending arrears cleared, according to officials. Inspector Shadab Khan said the accused would be brought to Jhansi after a case is registered against him in Lalitpur and would be produced before a special magistrate. The complainant subsequently lodged a complaint with the anti-corruption team in Jhansi, following which a trap was laid.
