Lucknow: The UP govt will organise phased camps across all 75 districts to distribute assistive devices and artificial limbs to eligible persons with disabilities, officials at department of empowerment of persons with disabilities said here on Wednesday. Officials said that the drive will take place in two phases with the first round scheduled to start on Sept 17. . The second phase will be conducted between Oct 20 and Nov 15, followed by the third phase from Dec 3 to Dec 15. Camps on Sept 17 will be held in Agra, Aligarh, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Kanpur Nagar, Lucknow, Meerut, Prayagraj and Varanasi, while the Oct 2 round will cover Gautam Budh Nagar, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Barabanki, Ghaziabad, Lakhimpur Kheri, Moradabad and Sonbhadra.
Officials said beneficiaries would be provided assistive devices and artificial limbs according to their requirements. Govt said the phased approach would help ensure wider and more systematic coverage of beneficiaries. The initiative is aimed at improving mobility, functionality and independence, while helping persons with disabilities carry out daily activities. . The department has directed district divyangjan empowerment officers to prepare district-specific action plans and ensure timely implementation of the camps. Officials have also been asked to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits in a transparent and time-bound manner. The camps are being organised under the assistive devices and artificial limb distribution scheme, which is among the state’s welfare measures aimed at supporting self-reliance and social inclusion of persons with disabilities. The first-phase schedule covers districts across all regions of the state. District-level officers will be responsible for coordinating the camps and ensuring that eligible persons receive devices suited to their specific needs. The initiative is part of govt’s broader effort to expand welfare and empowerment measures for persons with disabilities, with emphasis on accessibility, mobility and greater self-dependence.
