West UP dists on high alert after Saharanpur mosque demolition

Police was on alert in West UP with patrolling and drone surveillance ahead of Friday prayers in the backdrop of Saharanpur mosque demolition

ADG (Meerut zone) Bhanu Bhaskar said, “In Meerut Zone, police forces across each police station were deployed in a full state of alertness. Local police and administrative machinery stepped up patrols and surveillance across Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Bulandshahr and Hapur for the first Friday prayers since the demolition. QRTs, RRAFs, PACs were also deployed. Each senior police officer also takes round of sensitive points and hotspots. Heavy deployments of local police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) units were witnessed near major mosques, Fawwara Chowk and Delhi Road. High alert status was extended to Kairana, Kandhla, Jalalabad, Thanabhawan and parts of Muzaffarnagar and Meerut. Cyber cells and police teams closely monitored online platforms to curb rumours. Authorities issued public appeals urging residents to maintain peace and disregard unverified information.

Increased Security Following Mosque Demolition and Court Intervention

Meerut: Security measures were intensified across western Uttar Pradesh on Friday as local authorities heightened their vigilance. This response followed the recent demolition of a mosque located on the Saharanpur collectorate premises.

On the same day, the Allahabad High Court intervened in the ongoing legal dispute regarding the mosque. The court has requested a response from the state government and has placed a stay on a substantial fine that was previously imposed on the mosque committee.
