Kochi : The high court has prescribed timelines for disposing of bail applications, with anticipatory bail pleas to be decided within six weeks and regular bail applications within two weeks. Accordingly, the Chief Justice of the Kerala HC has approved the timelines, as communicated in a notice issued by registrar general Gopakumar G. Under the directive, anticipatory bail applications must be disposed of within six weeks, and regular bail applications within two weeks. The high court has further directed that, in regular bail applications, the time granted to the prosecution for obtaining instructions shall not exceed seven working days. The notice has been circulated among key stakeholders, including the advocate general, additional solicitor general, director general of prosecutions, state public prosecutor, Kerala high court advocates’ association and Bar Council of Kerala.
