On Sunday, the Government Railway Police in Prayagraj reported the rescue of a nine-year-old girl at Satna railway station. The child was allegedly being taken by a co-passenger from Mirzapur. Authorities acted on the situation promptly, ensuring the girl’s safety during the incident.
The matter was then reported to the GRP police station and a case was registered. Cops also launched a hunt for the missing girl.
Senior police said that they have been probing into the incident and recording the statement of the victim to take further course of action. The family of minor girl was travelling to Delhi from Mirzapur. At the Mirzapur station, an unidentified man struck up a conversation with the mother of victim by claiming he was also traveling to Delhi. The unknown man took the seat directly opposite hers in the train compartment. When after hours the girl didn’t return, the worried family searched every corner of the platforms, but found no trace of them. The joint team of GRP and RPF scanned CCTV footage and spotted the accused hurriedly exiting the station while holding the little girl’s hand. Subsequently, footage from Medical college intersection showed him taking the girl away in an e-rickshaw. The cops then scanned series of CCTV footage and managed to rescue the girl near Satna railway station. However, the miscreants managed to give a slip to police party.
As per reports, the series of incident began on Tuesday at Mirzapur station when a woman, a resident of Santnagar, had arrived with her nine-year-old daughter and a relative to catch the a special express train.
As the train arrived at Prayagraj Junction in evening, the unknown man misled the mother, claiming the train would not head towards Delhi and that they would need to catch another one at 10 pm instead. Believing him, the anxious family immediately disembarked.
