Kochi : Further hurdles have emerged for erecting a new supply line from Kinfra campus to Ernakulam govt medical college.
Though a discussion is ongoing with Kinfra to provide a new supply line from its park, which is 2km away from the medical college, the hospital needs to pay Rs 1 crore. Moreover, govt is yet to make the appointment of around 900 staff including doctors and paramedical staff. The structure with a built-up area of 8.6 lakh sqft should have been completed in Aug 2020, but it took five more years. The plan is to accommodate 14 departments and wards in the new structure. Moreover, parking is planned in the basements, with facilities to park 780 cars. A sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 400 kilolitres per day is also part of the new super specialty block.
