In Sikandrabad, Bulandshahr, two brothers, aged seven and five, passed away within hours of each other after suffering from fever for six days. Their family suspects dengue fever, citing prolonged waterlogging and inadequate sanitation in Khatriwada as contributing factors to mosquito breeding. However, local health officials have stated that neither child has been officially diagnosed with dengue. In response, they have initiated a death audit to determine the precise cause of the children’s deaths.
The boys, Monty, 7, and Titu, 5, saw their condition worsen rapidly on Tuesday evening after their platelet counts reportedly fell to around 20,000, family members said. He added, “A drop in platelet count can occur due to several reasons and is not, by itself, conclusive evidence of dengue. CMO Sunil Dohare said, “Both children have not been confirmed as dengue cases.
One died around midnight while undergoing treatment at a Meerut hospital, while the second died early Wednesday morning. A death audit is being conducted to ascertain the exact cause of their deaths. We are examining the medical records and other possible causes.”
