Thoothukudi : VO Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) and Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at India Green Fuel Conclave ’26 on September 17 to strengthen international cooperation and visibility for India’s green fuel ambitions.
The conclave, themed “VOCPA’s Anchor Role in India’s Green Methanol and Green Ammonia Export Ecosystem,” focused on pathways for production, infrastructure development, offtake, bunkering and international trade. Sessions examined VOCPA’s availability of land, power, water and CO₂ feedstock, its potential role under the mission, and requirements for moving from pilot projects to operational methanol bunkering. Officials from VOCPA and Paradip Port Authority shared updates on infrastructure, project milestones and implementation at designated green hydrogen hub ports. A technology session covered desalination, water treatment, biomethanol loops and process and utility systems needed to scale port-based green hydrogen, ammonia and methanol production.
