WhatsApp has several built-in privacy and security features that can help users protect their chats, photos, profile information and Status updates. From locking private conversations to using Face ID or a fingerprint to open the app, these tools give users more control over who can access their information. The Meta-owned platform also lets users limit who can see their profile photo and Status, while its View Once feature allows certain photos and videos to disappear after they are viewed. Here are five WhatsApp privacy and security features that users can turn on to keep their accounts and personal conversations more private.
When you turn on the Chat Lock feature, other people in the chat won’t receive a notification, and the chat automatically closes when you lock your device. You can set a secret code, create a folder to view locked chats , and hide locked chats . You can use the App Lock feature on WhatsApp as an additional security option, so only you can access your chats. With this feature turned on, you’ll need to use your fingerprint or facial recognition (on Android), Touch ID or Face ID (on iOS), or a password (on the web) to unlock WhatsApp. You can still answer messages and calls by tapping notifications even when WhatsApp is locked. You can send personal photos, videos, and voice messages on WhatsApp that disappear from the chat once the recipient has viewed/listened to them. This is known as the ‘View Once’ feature.
