Google has integrated its Gemini AI into Google Messages, enabling Android users to utilize conversational intelligence directly within their default messaging app. This feature allows users to draft replies, brainstorm ideas, plan events, or engage in casual conversation without leaving the Messages interface.
Unlike traditional chatbots, Gemini is built to work seamlessly with Rich Communication Services (RCS), providing contextual suggestions and productivity tools during conversations. The integration supports over 165 countries and multiple languages, positioning Gemini as a daily assistant embedded in the messaging experience.
What you need
Be 18 or over. An Android phone. Your phone’s language set to a supported language The latest version of Google Messages A personal Google Account that you manage on your own. You can’t use Gemini in Google Messages with a Google Account managed by Family Link or with a Google Workspace account. RCS chats turned on. Important: Chats with Gemini aren’t end-to-end encrypted. On your Android phone, open Google Messages Tap the chat with Gemini, or tap Start chat > Gemini.
For the first time, follow any on-screen instructions. Enter your question or prompt. The first time you chat with Gemini, you can explore different conversations. Just tap a suggestion above the message field. Optionally, to add a photo to your prompt, tap Show attach media screen Tap Send message
