Koppal : Panchayat development officers (PDOs) across Karnataka will launch an indefinite non-cooperation movement from Monday, Sept 21, over unresolved service-related demands and administrative and financial issues faced by gram panchayats, Karnataka State Panchayat Development Officers’ Association said. They have demanded annual grants of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh for sanitation works and Rs 25 lakh to Rs 35 lakh for drinking water supply systems and maintenance.
The association said several representations to govt had failed to resolve key demands, prompting the decision to intensify the protest after discussions with district units across the state. The demands include upgrading all PDO posts to Group-B cadre, removing anomalies in the PDO seniority list and ensuring timely promotion of eligible officers, said Ramesh Nadageri, president of the association. PDOs have also sought immediate release of pending 15th Finance Commission grants to gram panchayats and separate budgetary allocations for drinking water and sanitation.
