Thieves steal cop’s service pistol, 30 live rounds, cash and gold
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Burglars broke into a police head constable’s home in Nanded ’s Kautha area and escaped with his service pistol, 30 live cartridges, cash and gold worth a total of Rs 16.7 lakh. Head constable Gajanan Baliram Kadam, posted as a crime writer at Nanded city sub-divisional police officer’s office, discovered the burglary when he returned home around 10 am on Saturday. His family had left for their village Gortha on Sept 17 for the Mahalakshmi festival. Kadam returned home on Sept 18 after work and kept his govt-issued pistol and ammunition inside.
Police suspect an interstate gang and have deployed six teams to track down three suspects. With his family away, he stepped out for dinner and later returned to his Wazirabad office for work. He worked late and slept at the office, leaving his home vacant. When Kadam returned in the morning, he found the front door open and the lock broken. Household articles were strewn around.
