TB Board’s subcommittee on Tungabhadra reservoir silt removal meets at Munirabad on Thursday

However, no deadline has been fixed for the subcommittee to submit its report, board sources said. Tungabhadra Board secretary Srinivasu Bairi chairs the subcommittee. Its members are K Ramesh, chief engineer, Ongole, from Andhra Pradesh; retired chief engineer SH Manjappa from Karnataka; and Mohammed Rahimuddin, chief engineer, Wanaparthy, from Telangana. S Narayana Naik, superintending engineer, Tungabhadra Board, is the convener and member-secretary. The subcommittee was constituted on the directions of the Central Water Commission (CWC). At its first meeting, members decided to visit reservoirs in different parts of the country to study methods used to remove accumulated silt and assess their suitability for the Tungabhadra reservoir. Executive engineers Manojkumar Gadaballi, N Chandrashekhar and Nagaraj Rao, assistant executive engineers Dharmaraj, V Gopi and Vishwanath, and section officers Kiran and Huliraj attended the meeting. Hosapete (Vijayanagara): A subcommittee constituted to study desilting of the Tungabhadra reservoir and submit a report held its first meeting at the Tungabhadra Board office here on Thursday, deciding to visit reservoirs across the country to examine desilting methods adopted there.
