Nashik : A 27-year-old woman, living with her two children in Dhule city, has alleged that three neighbours entered her home and gang-raped her early on Wednesday. They allegedly filmed the assault and extorted money from her.
Police have also confirmed that the three accused live in the same locality as the woman.
Additional SP Ajay Deore said the situation is under control now. Police moved swiftly and arrested all three accused the same night. As word of the alleged crime spread, people began gathering outside the local police station to protest against the accused. Police subsequently tightened security to prevent the situation from escalating. He also appealed to residents to maintain peace and not spread or believe rumours. They are now trying to establish whether her children were in the same room or asleep when the alleged assault took place.
The woman, whose husband works in Mumbai, lodged a police complaint on Friday.
