Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway recorded total revenue of around Rs 852 crore from freight, passenger and parcel services in Sept 2026, with passenger revenue registering its highest-ever monthly figure. Passenger revenue stood at Rs 208.6 crore, a 34.54% increase over Rs 155.1 crore recorded in Sept 2025. Freight revenue contributed Rs 636.1 crore, up 6.9%, while parcel revenue rose 20% to Rs 7.4 crore. The division also recorded its highest-ever monthly freight revenue at three goods sheds: Rs 4.9 crore at WCGD (Devaliya), Rs 4.8 crore at Naliya and Rs 8.6 crore at Samakhiyali. New freight traffic included five sugar rakes loaded by Shri Renuka Sugar Ltd from Gandhidham, generating Rs 2.9 crore, while three rakes of imported steam coal loaded by DB Tradelink from Kandla Port Dock Rail Terminal generated Rs 2.1 crore. To meet additional passenger demand, 25 special train trips were operated, benefiting around 36,000 passengers and generating Rs 3 crore. The division further strengthened its freight infrastructure by notifying Kandla Port Goods Shed as a container rail terminal for round-the-clock container operations from Sept 30.
