The veteran tight end enters the AFC West showdown with 1,094 career receptions, leaving him just one catch away from moving into seventh place on the league’s all-time list. Jerry Rice leads the list with 1,549 receptions, followed by Larry Fitzgerald with 1,432. Tony Gonzalez has 1,325, while Jason Witten finished with 1,228. Marvin Harrison and Cris Carter sit just ahead of Kelce with 1,102 and 1,101 catches, respectively.
With the Chiefs fighting to stay unbeaten, Kelce has a personal milestone within reach at the same time. Kelce has spent years building one of the most productive careers ever by an NFL tight end. Now, a single reception stands between him and another place in the league record books. The players ahead of Kelce include some of the greatest pass catchers in NFL history.
Travis Kelce could add another notable chapter to his remarkable NFL career when the Kansas City Chiefs face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
The Chiefs and Raiders are scheduled to meet at 4:25 p.m.
“It’s just what the pure football is, is having the best competitors compete against each other and that’s what I think you really get whenever you go out there and it’s Raiders versus Chiefs,” he said, according to the NFL’s official website. That makes Sunday’s game particularly interesting. Kelce does not need a huge performance to make history. One completed connection with Patrick Mahomes will be enough.
ET on Sunday in Las Vegas, with the game airing on CBS.
