Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Four men have been arrested by Latur police after a group of migrant workers was allegedly assaulted with the blunt side of a sickle and kicked and punched on a deserted road in the Additional MIDC area of Harangul (Budruk) on Sept 27. Police said complainant Rampati Gulab Singh, 25, a native of Agra in Uttar Pradesh and a cook at a sweets and snacks manufacturing unit in Additional MIDC, had gone with his colleagues to a grocery shop near their workplace around 7pm on Sept 27. The arrested accused were identified as Ritesh Narayan Kalyankar, 23, originally from Kinala in Bhokar taluka of Nanded and currently residing in Harangul; Datta Girish Pawar, 22, of Hatte Nagar, Latur; Pradeep Anant Gaikwad, 20, of Additional MIDC; and Vishwajeet Balbhim Pandhare, a resident of Takalgaon in Renapur taluka and currently residing in Mahadev Nagar near Manjra Gate, Latur.
Latur SP Amol Tambe said police acted promptly after the complaint and used information gathered during the investigation to identify the suspects. The search for the absconding accused is underway,” he said. Another colleague, Navinkumar Pritam Singh, was allegedly assaulted and threatened with death. “The complainant was called to the police station and asked to identify the suspects. He identified the accused during the verification, following which four of them were arrested. Police are searching for the fifth accused, Pawan Balaji Jadhav, a native of Dornali in Mukhed taluka of Nanded and currently residing in Additional MIDC, Harangul.
The accused were identified by the complainant during the investigation and arrested by MIDC police on Sunday.
