The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Lucknow: UP director (agriculture) Jitendra Pratap Singh on Monday carried out an on-site inspection of the New Mandi complex in Jangipur, Ghazipur, and found serious deficiencies in sanitation and overall maintenance, prompting disciplinary action against the local mandi secretary.

Officials said the mandi administration had been repeatedly directed to improve facilities and resolve civic issues within the premises. Expressing concern over the situation, the director said chief minister Yogi Adityanath has issued clear instructions to make the state’s mandi system more efficient, transparent and farmer-centric. Providing better facilities to farmers at mandis remains a key priority of the govt, he said, adding that negligence or apathy at any level would not be tolerated.

However, the mandi secretary allegedly failed to take effective action despite repeated instructions. The director took serious note of the laxity in addressing sanitation issues, removal of encroachments from drains and clearance of unauthorised occupations.
