Records cover the university’s Hospital Revolving Fund (HRF) cell: The wider industry impact

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Lucknow: A three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by director general medical education (DGME) has been constituted to investigate money allocated over three years to King George’s Medical University for free treatment of poor patients and related welfare schemes, amid allegations of financial irregularities.

Records cover the university’s Hospital Revolving Fund (HRF) cell and several schemes intended to provide free treatment to economically disadvantaged patients, according to the reports.

The SIT is expected to examine expenditure records for the past three years to establish whether the funds were properly utilised and whether any irregularities occurred in the purchase of medicines, processing of bills or treatment provided to patients. UP govt has directed the KGMU registrar to ensure immediate submission of records sought by a SIT probing the implementation of free medical treatment schemes and related financial assistance programmes at the institution.
