Kanpur: District magistrate Mahendra Singh Tanwar, municipal commissioner Sudhir Kumar , and SDM (Sadar) jointly inspected the road repair work being carried out by the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Monday.
During the inspection, officials assessed the quality and progress of the work, reviewed on-site arrangements, and issued necessary directions to the concerned officials.

A follow-up inspection will be conducted within a week after the work is completed on priority,” the district magistrate said. The team also inspected the cleanliness drive being conducted near Kalyanpur railway station. Officials reviewed sanitation arrangements, garbage collection, the availability of manpower and resources, and progress in eliminating identified Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs). “Garbage and waste must be removed immediately from blocked areas and other identified locations. At the GVP site near Kanpur University, the district magistrate and the municipal commissioner directed officials to develop a well-planned street vending zone to prevent the area from turning into a garbage dumping point or an encroachment site again. The officer concerned was directed to prepare a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the existing system for the collection, transportation, processing, and disposal of C&D waste, along with a proposed framework for its more effective management.
